Why Lifetime Uses Aluminum Inside and Out

Lifetime bunkhouses are the only bunkhouses built to stand up to a lifetime of use in the amusement industry.  Why?  Aluminum.  Aluminum is both lightweight and strong.  It’s versatile, beautiful, clean, and corrosion-resistant.  So, all the aluminum in your Lifetime Bunkhouse makes it look great, lightweight, and easy to maintain.  And most of all, it has the durability to last a lifetime!

So how much aluminum goes into each Lifetime bunkhouse?

The Frame  Every Lifetime frame is constructed of aluminum tubing atop a heavy-duty, rust-resistant steel frame so that it is lightweight, strong, and resistant to corrosion.

Interior Walls  Bright white aluminum lines every room’s walls, keeping them clean and free from damage over years of heavy wear and tear.

On the Road…

During his recent road trip to see Lifetime customers, Gary took in some interesting sights:  units built by Otterbacher Mfg. years ago that look as great now as they did then!

Gary met with Mike Lis at the Ohio State Fair and talked about his Wild Bill’s Curly Fries trailer that’s still going strong after seventeen years — that’s right, it’s been on the road for 17  years!

Mike shared with Gary how much success he’s had with the unit.  With such a great looking trailer, and of course his delicious curly fries, Mike plays some of the biggest fairs in the country and earns a substantial profit.  In addition to The Ohio State Fair, Mike plays the Miami-Dade County Fair in Miami, The Big E in Springfield, Massachusetts, and a number of other money-making spots.

Gary also stopped by the Indiana State Fair during his trip and was welcomed with the sign he built for the fairgrounds’ midway more than twenty years ago.  How about that for being built to last!

Every Lifetime bunkhouse is built with one thing in mind: long-lasting quality.

Every Lifetime bunkhouse is built with one thing in mind: long-lasting quality.

We know life on the road is tough and so are our bunkhouses. You need a bunkhouse that can withstand the wear and tear of year-round road travel and living.

Quality Construction

The upper and interior structure of every Lifetime bunkhouse is fabricated of aluminum tubing with .050 baked on aluminum interior and exterior skin for lightweight durability that lasts a lifetime.  We put this high-quality body on top of a heavy-duty, rust-resistant steel frame and heavy-duty axles for quality that is unsurpassed in the industry.

Every part in a Lifetime bunkhouse is of the highest quality:  from jack stands, to tires, to axles, to steps, to air conditioners, and on and on.

Standard in every Lifetime bunkhouse room:

  • electrical tower with armored receptacle
  • light switch and fixture
  • smoke detector
  • aluminum drain in the all aluminum floor
  • Individual air conditioning unit
  • plenty of storage space
  • large, heavy-duty aluminum shelving unit with clothing bar
  • ample under-bed storage
  • collapsible table for a microwave, TV, or other use
  • crisp, clean, white interior walls

Easy to Maintain

The walls, floor and ceiling of each individual room are covered with smooth, white, corrosion-proof aluminum skin.  The beds, shelving, and ladders are constructed of heavy-duty, durable, corrosion-proof aluminum tubing.  These smooth, corrosion-resistant surfaces allow for easy cleaning with soap and water.  There is even drain in the floor of every room for easy drainage after cleaning!

Crisp, clean, white interior walls allow your employees to choose their own décor— unlike the competitors bunkhouses with outdated patterned wallpaper and cheap vinyl flooring — and for easy cleanup anytime.

High Value

The value of buying a Lifetime bunkhouse is evident immediately.  While lower quality bunkhouses barely make it through their first season without severe wear and tear, Lifetime bunkhouses are literally made to last a lifetime.  The steel frame and aluminum exterior stand up to the abusive conditions of constant road travel, weather, and employee use.

About

Over the past 40 years Gary Otterbacher has earned a reputation for building trailers that are  high quality, durable, strong , well-designed, and innovative.  With Lifetime Products bunkhouses, Gary is filling a need in the carnival industry with a bunk trailer that meets these same standards.

In 1971 Gary Otterbacher built his first game trailer piece by piece, hauling the unfinished trailer from spot to spot while working on his father’s carnival.  Back then, he saw the need for a well-built trailer that could stand the abuses of the road.  This single game trailer grew into Otterbacher Mfg. which set the standard for trailers in the carnival industry for more than 25 years.  Game, concession, office, living quarters, and ticket boxes were all custom made with steel and aluminum, never wood.

In 2001, Gary started Hi-Way Star Trailers, with the same philosophy of a durable, high-quality trailer.  Hi-Way Star trailers were made on an all steel frame with aluminum outer body.

Over the past 40 years he has earned the reputation for building trailers that are high quality, long-lasting/durable, strong, well-designed, and innovative.  Now, spotting another need in the carnival industry for a high-quality, durable, low maintenance bunk trailer, Gary started Lifetime Products Bunkhouses, continuing  to provide the industry with high-quality, high-value trailers.
